October is Filipino American History Month.  We celebrate the achievements, contributions and history of Filipino Americans. 

We are sharing this wonderful culture with the students on October 21st, Monday with activities with the students during lunch recess (12:20 - 1) in the multiuse room.  There will be art activities, an artifact display, Filipino music and traditional Filipino games will be played.

Free Dress:  Wear red, white, blue and/or yellow (the colors of the flag of the Republic of the Philippines)

While this activity is for the students only, we do need help in making sure that the stations are running smoothly.  Volunteers (Filipino or not :-)) are needed.

To our Filipino families, if you have items that we can share with the kids in the artifact display, please lend them to us.

At Zanker, we are celebrating Diwali on Friday, Nov 8th evening. We need a planning committee with a chair or two (as co-chairs) to make this event happen. Please sign-up as a committee member or committee chair to help plan this Diwali event at Zanker.

The Chair person(s) will lead this effort while the members will contribute ideas and help execute the event for a celebratory evening for all. Please help the PTA and support multicultural learning by coming together to plan this event. Please sign-up by Friday, Oct 11th, at the latest, to help make the planning easy and the event a bright success.
